The best way to apply is by completing our online application form through our online portal. Register your details and you'll have full access to submit, view, amend and make payments online. It takes 5 minutes to register and is completely free. 

On average, our customers complete their new connection applications in 15 minutes.

Before you start your application, go through the checklist below. Having the relevant information and documents will make sure your application journey is as smooth as possible.

What is your connection for?

What will your connection be used for? E.g. Single house, 1-4 homes, office unit, temporary building supply etc.

How much power will you need?

What will you be powering in the property? How much power will you need (in KVA)? This can be confirmed with your electrician or by checking out our demand calculator.

Project Details:

• When you need the new connection.
• Who will manage and pay for the work (including their contact details).
• Whether you want digging on your land and the highway included in your quote. (If you use your own contractor for highway work, they must be NRSWA accredited.)

Once submitted, we’ll use this information to begin designing your new connection and prepare your quote. You can track the progress of your application online by logging in to our online portal.

In most cases, we won’t need to visit your site to prepare your quote. Instead, we’ll send you an easy‑to‑use link by text or email that walks you through exactly what photos or videos to take. This helps us create an accurate quote tailored to your site and provides us with visibility on what the job entails.

You’ll hear from your quoter within 5 working days to discuss your design and prepare your quote. They’ll give you a call to talk through your requirements, explore design options, outline the costs, and answer any questions you may have. Quotes are usually issued within 5-15 working days, depending on the complexity of your project. After your initial conversation, your quoter will be able to give you a clearer idea of when you can expect your quote.

Take a look through your design and quote. If you've changed your mind and need a new quote, no worries, contact your quoter, and they'll be able to get you back on track and issue you with a new quote that better suits your needs.

Your quote will be valid for 90 days. If your quote has expired, give us a call, and we can arrange for a new quote to be issued.

Once accepted and paid to secure the price we must complete it in 90 days, therefore, please accept and pay for your quote when you are fully ready for your new connection. We aim to connect you within 4–6 weeks.

The quickest way to accept and pay is online through our online portal. Other ways to pay can be found in pages 4-6 of your quote letter.

Usually, work will be booked in between 4 - 6 weeks from when payment has been made.

Your Project Manager will contact you within 2 days of payment to discuss next steps. We recommend speaking with your Project Manager before you start to get your site ready to ensure you have all of the information you need specific to your site.

Each site has different requirements; some of the responsibilities we are responsible for may include, however, your project manager will explain what applies to you and your site:

• Obtaining land rights
• Obtaining permits
• Site visits
• Digging onsite/offsite
• Booking dates to install SSEN equipment
• Issuing your Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN)

We recommend not completing onsite work until you have spoken with your project manager. They will outline what you need to do in order to be site ready.

This may include:

• Agreeing a date for us to install our equipment
• Buying materials (meter boards, meter boxes, hockey stick, ducting, sand)
• Fitting meter boards/meter boxes
• Laying ducting
• Registering your Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) with your supplier
• Booking a date for your supplier to install your meter
• Settle any additional land right/traffic management payments

If you’re not ready for the work to start, please let your Project Manager know. We’ll work with you to rearrange the schedule. To avoid any potential abortive fees, make sure you notify us at least 2 working days before the planned start date.

If you requested onsite digging from us, we will complete the digging as part of the new connection. Once our equipment has been installed, we will return within 10 working days to refill any digging we completed onsite.
