Yes. If you need more or less power at your property, you can apply to upgrade or reduce your existing supply. This may be needed when making changes to your home or business that affect how much electricity you use. 

Most homes and small businesses can upgrade from a single‑phase supply to a three‑phase supply, giving you up to 69kVA of power. Customers typically need this when: 

• Converting a house into flats, each needing its own electricity meter 
• Extending a property and requiring more power for additional appliances 
• Installing high‑power equipment such as heat pumps, microgeneration, large motors or welders 
• Installing three‑phase equipment, like water pumps 

We can also upgrade supplies over 70kVA and provide a costed quote. This is usually required by commercial customers when: 

• Installing new high‑demand equipment in shops (e.g., large freezers) 
• Adding new electrical equipment to restaurants 
• Installing multiple electric vehicle chargers in car parks 

Yes. Older properties often have 30A or 60A fuses. We can upgrade these to an 80A or 100A fuse free of charge. Customers normally request this when: 

• Installing a power shower 
• Installing a jacuzzi or hot tub 
• An electrician has advised that a 100A fuse is required 

You're not committing to anything by making an application. We will send you a free no obligation quotation which will be valid for 90 days. Once you are happy and ready to go ahead with your works you can make a payment. Your Project Manager will then be in touch with you within 2 working days to plan the work.

Your quotation is valid for 90 days. If you reach the end of the 90 days let us know and we can request a new quotation for you. Once you receive your new quotation you will have another 90 days to make a payment. 

Yes, if you need to change the location of your cable at the same time as requesting your increase/decrease please include this in your application along with your current and proposed meter location and our quoters will get this quoted for you. 

Your quote includes the costs of many things. Some of these things aren't considered when you first apply. They include: 

- Materials for your connection 

- External sitework costs, for example road closures 

- Qualified engineers time to carry out your connection 

- Maintenance of any future potential faults 

We know the costs can seem very high to some customers, but we always look for the most cost-effective option. 

If you have asked us to carry out the digging, your quote will include an estimated cost for any traffic management that may be needed. This amount may change if additional traffic management is required. If you wish to carryout the digging then you/your approved contractor must also arrange traffic management in line with the new road and street works act.

Any digging needed outside your boundary is included in your quotation. If we find that additional digging required, we will let you know and explain any extra costs before work continues. All land rights must be agreed and paid for before we can start. 

We can add the cost to dig on your land into your quote, but it may be more cost effective for you to do this yourself. Especially if you already have builders on site. You can refer to our Customer Works guide for trenching depths and refer to your quotation. Your Project Manager can also provide information on the trench route.

When your Project Manager books in a date that works for you, they will be able to give you a clearer time on when the engineers will arrive. 

Your Project Manager will explain what you need to do to get your site ready. They’ll provide guidance directly, and you can also find helpful information in our Customer Works Guide. We recommend waiting to carry out any on‑site work until you’ve spoken with your Project Manager to confirm exactly what’s required. 

Your electrician will not be accredited to work on the main network so will not be able to update our equipment. However, have them on hand for any internal electrical works including connecting from your meter to your consumer unit. You will also need to arrange for your meter supplier to updated your metering equipment, find helpful information in our Customer Works Guide.
